For the round 1 of "Team dArt Showdown" fav.me/d4z3p28 , with the topic "Change".
We are a Slavic team (me , and from Slovakia, and from Montenegro), so we decided to interpret the theme through Slavic folklore. Pavel Dobšinský was the most famous fairy-tale collector in the Slovakia, and this fairy-tale, called "The Tree Raven Brothers" is from his collection. It is similar to Andersen's Wild Swans: there are three brothers, turned to ravens, and their sister who has to free them by seven years of not speaking. The raven brothers live in a crystal castle as men during the night, and fly through the world like ravens during the day.
We decided to depict this change, together with the changing seasons in our works:
- Spring
- Summer
- Autumn
- Winter (this work) - watercolour painting

I am actually writing my own interpretation of The Wild Swans/Three Ravens, but I really want to bring out the culture of the story and since its in Dutch, German,SLavic, and no doubt more I am having trouble with that. So far I am using a German folktale setting while using German and Dutch names for the characters. Could you send a link for the oldest/most popular version of this story?
